Story - Humble beginnings

From Thailand to the UK

Looking back to when I started Two Thai Limited with my former business partner in 2017, we have had to jump through many hoops to earn the right to register Thai street-food business in the UK through the T1 (Graduate Entrepreneur) Visa scheme.

The journey  started when my partner and I had a conversation one day during our lunch break at Lancaster University where we found ourselves struggling to find an affordable, quality Thai food outlet in Lancaster. Thai food in the UK has obtained a reputation of being an expensive cuisine found primarily in restaurants. Therefore we realised the opportunity to add more value to the industry by creating an affordable Thai food business, since we have always been intrigued by the size of the Thai food industry in the UK. Combining this with our personal motivation stemmed from our passion for cooking, we have always enjoyed working in this industry and are happy to see a wider base of customers who can afford our products. This has triggered our desire to fill in the gap of the market and by doing so bring more customers into tasting our food. That is how it all started....

The process of taking our simple idea to forming a Company was scary for both of us but we embraced all the opportunity with optimism, dedication  and enthusiasm, recognising that even the most successful brands in the world all started from humble beginnings.

This all comes down to the simple philosophy:  I believe that cooking good food should not be complicated as long as you are using the right tools.

THE PROCESS

Two Thai Limited and Styles of Siam

Every end is a new beginning. So does my story.

After a year and a half of trading with Two Thai Limited, my partner and I decided to part way for good because of different goals in our life (we still remains great friends!). Although it was tough to adjust in the beginning, this path has allowed me to completely listen to myself to create something that is unique and personal to me, that is how Styles of Siam was born.

It was with a simple concept in mind to accumulate every knowledge, skills and experience, combining these with my passions to create the products I want to showcase to the public. Each with its own story, a conception born from individual places and moments, but all telling a part of my journey and experience; making sure each product has its own identity while keeping hold of its authenticity. Also, the products have to be simple enough to use on just about any meal and yet can be used creatively for new and exciting dishes.

one-of-a-kind experience

Duke of York Young Entrepreneurs Award 2017

Recently graduated from Lancaster University with a strong determination to start a Thai street food business in the U.K., we have worked tirelessly to ensure our enthusiasm and hard work have shown through in every single dish we created. Having a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet Prince Andrew, Duke of York and received such a prestigious award from His Royal Highness himself was indeed a one of a kind experience. We were really honoured to have received this award, this also means a lot to us as international graduates. As we have gone through many challenges, we have learnt that as long as we don’t give up on our dreams and work hard for it, then those dreams will not give up on us.
